Case Study

Weston Super Mare Case StudyWESTON SUPER MARE (Civils)

This turnkey contract includes the installation of 3.5 km of 48” welded steel pipeline, in pipe lengths of 12.8 m, to transport treated effluent from the sewage treatment works to Black Rock Pumping Station prior to discharge into the Severn Estuary.

The pipeline has cathodic protection and is coated both internally and externally. Four rhyme and road crossings will be completed utilising “no-dig” techniques, and additional pumping equipment will be installed at the Sewage Treatment Works.

Comprehensive feasibility studies including ‘value engineering’ and build-ability work were carried out to identify the most advantageous options for Wessex Water.

Extensive Route Selection work was undertaken to find the path that would have the least impact on the environment and cause minimal disruption to the traveling public.
